Arsenal legend Ian Wright has criticised Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot for showing Rasmus Hojlund “a lack of respect” during the Red Devils’ embarrassing 3-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Goals from Dominic Solanke, Phillip Billing and Marcos Senesi condemned Erik ten Hag’s side to their seventh Premier League defeat of the season, leaving them 10 points behind league-leaders Liverpool.

Man Utd are also bottom of their Champions League group and must beat Bayern Munich on Tuesday to stand a chance of qualifying for the last-16.

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth team have now picked up 13 points from the last 15 available in the English top flight and registered more shots on target than Man Utd at Old Trafford, despite only having 31% possession.

The result has seen Ten Hag’s job called into question once again, with talk of the Dutchman being sacked intensifying in the aftermath of the heavy defeat.

Now, Portuguese defender Dalot has been slammed for his selfishness in the loss to Bournemouth after he opted to ignore €75 million summer signing Hojlund in the second-half in order to shoot at goal himself.

Hojlund shown ‘lack of respect’

In the 67th minute of the game, Dalot found himself free inside the box but he decided to ignore the presence of Hojlund by shooting from a tight-angle.

Just one minute later, Billing made it 2-0 to Bournemouth before Senesi completed the scoring shortly afterwards.

Hojlund, 20, was visibly frustrated with his Man Utd team-mate, something that Arsenal legend Wright spoke about on Match of the Day.

“When I saw it was Dalot at 1-0... Hojlund had just come on and he wants these chances,” the former Arsenal striker said. “It's good play, he [Dalot] gets in and he's got to square it,' he said.

“I think that's a total lack of respect for him [Hojlund], he doesn't even acknowledge him.

“He's had a shot from the most ridiculous angle. He's upset with himself but he doesn't even look for Hojlund, it was a ridiculous shot and Bournemouth scored a minute later.

“Hojlund has got to be pulling him up in the dressing room and saying 'come on’,” Wright concluded.

Hojlund’s goal drought in the Premier League extended to 12 games following his failure to score against Bournemouth, although the Denmark international has netted five times in the Champions League following his summer move from Atalanta.
