Manchester United’s hopes of signing France defender Jean-Clair Todibo have been given a huge boost following reports that OGC Nice are prepared to sell him in 2024.

The 23-year-old is on Man Utd’s transfer shortlist as they look to bring in a new centre-back amid Lisandro Martinez’s injury problems and the possibility of Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane leaving the club.

Maguire was expected to depart Old Trafford this summer, but a move to West Ham United failed to materialise, while FootballTransfers exclusively reported that Varane has been contacted by Saudi Pro League Al-Nassr.

Sources have informed us the former Real Madrid defender is keen on the move and could be reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo for a third time in his career.

Erik ten Hag’s side have several different options available as they search for a new centre-back, with Edmond Tapsoba, Giorgio Scalvini and Antonio Silva among the names linked with a move to Old Trafford.

However, their pursuit of Todibo appears very concrete and Nice have now informed the France international that they are willing to sell him next year, as per 90min.

It has been reported that Nice are prepared to offload the 23-year-old, although a move in January is unlikely if they continue to challenge for the Ligue 1 title.

Francesco Farioli’s side are currently top of the French top flight, one point clear of Paris Saint-Germain in second and two points ahead of AS Monaco in third.

A January exit has not been ruled out yet, but it may be trickier if Nice maintain their incredible start to the new campaign.

Furthermore, 90min have added that Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United have sent scouts to watch Todibo this season, while Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan and Atalanta are also interested.

Todibo to Man Utd?

Man Utd’s interest in Todibo was recently confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who told The United Stand: “Todibo is a player on the list of Manchester United already since June, July. They have had very positive conversations on the player’s side.

“From what I’m hearing still now, the idea has not changed - Todibo would love to join Manchester United.

“He’s really attracted by the opportunity to play in the Premier League. He’s an expensive player. He remains a player appreciated by United’s scouring department and he’s not the only one.”
