Liverpool are leading the pack in the chase for sought-after Irish wonderkid Naj Razi, according to a report.

The youngster is catching the eye of Europe's elite and is already being linked with a big move despite his tender years. Aged 17, Razi is already a member of Shamrock Rovers' senior squad in his native Ireland.

An attacking midfielder, Razi stole the spotlight at the U17 Euros as the Republic of Ireland reached the quarterfinal stage. The youngster is the latest in a long list of talented Irishmen - and Irishwomen like Abbie Larkin - to burst onto the scene in recent months and years.

Razi joins the likes of Evan Ferguson and Mason Melia in being one of the country's most sought-after prospects. Accordingly, some of the most prolific hoarders of talent like Real Madrid and Chelsea are credited with an interest in Razi, but it is Liverpool who are the most involved in the chase for his signature.

Is Razi Merseyside-bound?

That's at least according to TEAMtalk, which writes that the Reds "have been one of the most active in their interest with their scouts present at multiple matches and a drive within the club to attract more of the best young talent to Anfield."

Jurgen Klopp is said to be keen on giving more youngsters a chance as he looks to mould the next generation of Anfield stars. Raj would join the likes of Ben Doak, Luke Chambers and Harvey Elliot in and around the Reds' first team.

However, the report also mentions that Man City, too, are taking a keen interest in the youngster, as are the aforementioned Chelsea and Real Madrid, though the latter could face an uphill battle in trying to land him as a move to England is seen as the more plausible option. It is said that Raj would command a fee of just £250,000.
