Manchester United are keeping a particularly keen eye on five wingers who could replace Jadon Sancho.

January is creeping ever closer and the England international remains in first-team exile at Old Trafford. Sancho snapped back at coach Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman had claimed that he did not feature against Arsenal because of poor training performances.

The 23-year-old's angry, public response, in which he insisted that he had been made a scapegoat, saw him banished from all senior squad facilities, including the cafeteria. Sancho is still refusing to apologise, meaning that his route back into the side continues to be blocked.

A January exit is becoming all the more likely, with Newcastle the latest club linked with a potential move. Juventus, Barcelona and ex-club Borussia Dortmund have also previously been said to be keen on ending his Man Utd misery.

His departure will leave the Red Devils short-staffed on the right wing, a problem that could be exacerbated should the allegations against Antony rear their ugly head again in the future.

Man Utd's shortlist

Faced with this problem, Erik ten Hag and Man Utd's recruitment team have drawn up a five-man winger shortlist according to James Roades. The most prominent name on the list is ex-Arsenal flop and current Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry.

At 28, Gnabry is on the older side of the spectrum of players the Red Devils are looking at. Also on the list are Athletic Club's explosive Nico Williams (21) and the "Norwegian Neymar," Antonio Nusa (18) of Club Brugge, whom Chelsea attempted to sign on Deadline Day.

20-year-old Yeremy Pino from Villarreal is also being looked at. Finally, 26-year-old Martin Terrier of Stade Rennais is admired, but there are questions about his current level after a lengthy spell on the sidelines last term due to an ACL injury.
