Revealed: Why Man City sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea this summer

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes Oscar Bobb is a bigger talent than Cole Palmer, according to reports, which is why he allowed Palmer to join Chelsea this summer.
The England U21 international, who captained the Young Lions during the October international break, left Man City during the most recent transfer window after Chelsea saw a €47 million offer accepted by Guardiola’s side.
Palmer has started excellently since moving to Stamford Bridge and has scored one goal and provided two assists in just three starts for his new club.

The 21-year-old played a bit-part role at Man City, but he is one of Chelsea’s most important players already and Mauricio Pochettino has given him a chance to shine.
However, Guardiola was happy to let Palmer leave due to the emerging presence of Norwegian youngster Oscar Bobb, according to The Daily Star.

Bobb over Palmer?
It has been reported that Bobb’s development was one of the major reasons why Guardiola let Palmer leave, with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach believing that Bobb has a higher ceiling.
The 20-year-old has won City’s Academy Player of the Year award in both of the past two seasons and is now a fully-fledged member of the first-team squad.
Similar to Phil Foden and Palmer himself, the Norwegian has not been rushed into the senior side and Guardiola has not yet given him too many chances.
In total, Bobb has racked up just 141 minutes in all competitions so far this season, but Man City want to offer him a contract extension, as per The Daily Star.
Bobb has two years left on his current deal, but he is set to be rewarded with a bumper new deal that will run until 2029. The 20-year-old will also see his wages treble to £36,000 per week, according to the report.
