Manchester United have announced that Mason Greenwood will leave the club following an internal investigation into his criminal proceedings last year.

The 21-year-old has not played for United since being suspended after his arrest on suspicion of rape and assault in January 2022, although the case was dropped earlier this year after key witnesses withdrew from the investigation.

United released a statement upon the conclusion of their inquiry confirming that it would be ‘most appropriate’ for Greenwood to continue his career ‘away from Old Trafford’.

“All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United,” a statement read. “Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged.

“That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.”

Mbappe set for SHOCK Man Utd move?

The door has opened on a possible Manchester United move for Kylian Mbappe with his mother and agent Fayza Lamari growing frustrated with Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Amrabat went on strike

Manchester United’s probable next signing Sofyan Amrabat went on strike earlier this year in an attempt to force a transfer to Barcelona.

United are in negotiations to buy Morocco centre midfielder Amrabat from Fiorentina and it is widely expected that the deal will be completed in the next week or so.
