Bruno Fernandes has gone public with his unhappiness that goalkeeper David de Gea is leaving Manchester United.

De Gea announced that he is leaving the club via social media with a heartfelt message that outlined his disappointment to be departing Man Utd as a free agent after talks over a new contract broke down.

Fernandes took to social media to hint at his frustration with the way the 11-year servant of the Old Trafford outfit will bow out.

On his Instagram stories, the club’s de facto captain posted: “You know what I think about you and how much I’ll miss you.

“You deserved to say goodbye at the stadium with all the fans cheering for all the beautiful memories.

“You made history at the club and your name will never be forgotten, and that no one can take away from you.

“All the best for what’s coming for you and your family.”

It is unclear if Bruno is frustrated with the manner in which Man Utd handled the situation, but the Portugal playmaker is certainly annoyed about the manner of De Gea’s exit.

De Gea’s rough end to his Man Utd career

De Gea suffered in his final months as a Man Utd player, when it became increasingly unclear where his future lay.

It appeared that manager Erik ten Hag was prepared to persist with him for at least one more season, with reports breaking as recently as May that common ground on an agreement had been found between the club and the player.

A much-criticised performance in the FA Cup final, which United lost 2-0 to Manchester City, however, appeared to be a watershed moment, with the momentum turning against De Gea at that point.

Man Utd are moving to secure a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, who will replace De Gea as the club’s No.1 next season, with Ten Hag also thought to be targeting another shot-stopper as Dean Henderson will join Nottingham Forest and loan keeper Jack Butland have both moved on.
