Liverpool are in talks with PSG over a "sensational" loan move for France international striker Kylian Mbappe.

According to The Mirror, the Reds have opened a dialogue with the Ligue 1 club in order to sign the France international attacker for a year on loan.

Mbappe is presently locked in a contract dispute with PSG. He wants to see out his contract at Parc des Princes, which expires next summer, but the Ligue 1 champions do not wish to see him leave as a free agent.

The striker has rejected a potential transfer to the Saudi Pro League, and Liverpool are in negotiations over a potential loan switch that could suit all parties.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed Arsenal could become an option for Mbappe if he becomes a free agent, while Chelsea have also been seriously linked with him.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, remain hot favourites for a deal, with Spanish sources reporting that they could even complete a transfer for Mbappe this week. However, where they would raise the funds after signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for big money is unclear.

What are Liverpool offering?

Liverpool are offering Mbappe and PSG a solution that could suit everyone. According to the Mirror, they will sign the France star on a one-year loan deal that will prevent the Ligue 1 side from footing his huge wages while getting some financial reward in return.

As it stands, Mbappe is frozen out of things in Paris and could spend the season on the bench without playing any football. The opportunity to move to Liverpool would give him a chance to play at a high level over the course of the year before completing his dream move to Real Madrid next summer – a deal that PSG believe has already been agreed.

Mbappe, meanwhile, is likely to be more open to this deal than a switch to the Saudi Pro League, having admitted his admiration for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp in the past.

“It's a very good team with a very good manager,” he told the BBC in 2020 as Klopp led Liverpool to their first Premier League title.

Mbappe has subsequently revealed that Liverpool is the favourite team of his mother and agent Fayza Lamari.
