Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has admitted that he’s sent text messages to AS Roma forward Paulo Dybala in an attempt to convince the Argentine to join him at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Dybala, 29, joined Roma on a free transfer from Juventus last summer, but he has a release clause of just €12 million that can be activated by any club outside Italy.

This has prompted speculation that he may leave Serie A in the coming weeks, with Chelsea interested in signing him, according to multiple reports.

And, Fernandez has attempted to persuade his countryman to join Chelsea before the window shuts.

“I’ve sent text messages to Paulo Dybala telling him to come to Chelsea. I hope he comes and joins us, let's see what happens,” he told ESPN Argentina.

Enzo also told outlet Diario Ole: “Yes, I saw something about that [Chelsea’s interest in Dybala]. We’ll see. I hope he comes. I talked to him and told him that I’m waiting for him to share a barbecue or something.”

Thiago Silva wants Dybala to join Chelsea too

Furthermore, Enzo is not the only Chelsea player who has attempted to convince Dybala to move to West London.

The former Juventus star and Thiago Silva were both in attendance at Sunday’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and the Brazil international admitted he spoke to Dybala at the race.

“I’ve asked Paulo Dybala if it’s true that he’s coming to Chelsea but he didn’t answer,” Silva said. “He’s a top player, he’d be a massive signing for us - I’d like it.”

However, Dybala appears to have downplayed talk of him joining the Blues. Speaking to LaRoma24, Dybala said: “I’m motivated for pre-season, which we’re starting tomorrow [Monday 10 July]. My future? I’m happy at Roma. I’m staying here.”

Dybala netted 18 goals and contributed eight assists in all competitions last season as Roma finished sixth in Serie A and reached the Europa League final.
