5. Sven Botman

This was Newcastle’s first summer transfer window under their new ownership and they signed several names – mostly young players – and Sven Botman was one of the top deals.

Botman has significantly improved the Magpies defence and was a shout for the Dutch national team squad ahead of the World Cup, but failed to make the final cut.

4. Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United needed an improvement in defence after conceding 54 times in the league last season and Erik ten Hag went for a trusted figure in Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

Martinez was initially criticized for his lack of height, but after the 4-0 defeat to Brentford in August, he became the leader of the defence and is widely regarded as one of the best centre-halves in the league.

3. Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal needed a focal point in attack at the end of last season and they found just that in Gabriel Jesus, having signed him from Manchester City in the summer.

Although he hasn’t got too many goals or assists, his link up play and connection with his attackers has allowed others to flourish, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard all improving significantly this season.

2. Casemiro

For years, Manchester Untied needed a defensive midfielder and they moved to complete a surprise deal for one of the world’s best in Casemiro from Real Madrid.

He immediately improved the team, becoming a regular starter after his side’s 6-3 defeat to Manchester City, with the team looking more secure and their progression of the ball improving drastically.

1. Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland is probably the best signing of any club in Europe – he’s made the impact to prove how good he has been and has the numbers to back it up.

The Norwegian moved from Borussia Dortmund and became the fastest player to hit 20 Premier League goals, hitting that target in 14 appearances and is on course to break the all-time Premier League scoring record of 34 in a single season.READ: Haaland to Real Madrid looking more likely after father’s admission
