Manchester United and Arsenal may have suffered a blow in their hopes of signing Napoli’s star forward Victor Osimhen in the coming transfer window.

Osimhen has been of interest to various clubs over the last few months and was heavily linked to a transfer to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

The Nigerian has been excellent for the Serie A side in recent times and has excelled under manager Luciano Spalletti, as they sit on top of the league.

Now, the 23-year-old’s agent has spoken about the forward’s future as rumours intensify about where he’ll be playing his football in the next season.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Roberto Calenda, his agent, said: "We haven’t found out now that Osimhen is the object of interest of many teams. But things are done in three: who sells, who buys and the player.

Osimhen wants Napoli stay

"I was immediately clear this summer because I knew that there would be a fuse for news coming out of those who had other interests. But me, the boy and Napoli had clear ideas.

“With the talk of the departure, someone went wrong. It was Victor’s will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won last year together with his team-mates.

"Victor wanted just that: to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League. He has a long contract. The market is dynamic but our will is to continue with Napoli and continue to do well.”

Osimhen has a contract at Napoli for a further three years – until 2025 – and won’t come in cheap for any club that wants to sign him.

Manchester United were keen on a deal that would’ve seen Cristiano Ronaldo go the other way, but that would’ve been complicated to complete and both forwards ended up staying at their current clubs.

Whether they make a move for him again remains to be seen, but they will have to spend big to bring him to Old Trafford.
