The future of Youri Tielemans is up in the air, with the Belgian midfielder linked to a host of clubs, but still playing at Leicester City with the Foxes keen to keep hold of the player.

Tielemans had been linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer transfer window this year, but the Gunners never made a move, choosing to focus on other areas of the pitch having spent big.

Newcastle United were another club interested in Tielemans, but they too found it difficult to make a move for the Belgian and he ended up staying at Leicester until at least the January transfer window.

Now, it’s reported that Manchester United may make a push for him as early as this January as Erik ten Hag plans a winter outlay to improve his squad, ahead of the business end of the season.

Ten Hag wants more depth

According to reports, Ten Hag is hoping to improve in three areas in the January window to build on Manchester United’s resurgent start to the Premier League campaign.

Ten Hag wants to bring in a new right back, midfielder and forward in a bid to better the team, and feels a player in Tielemans’ profile would be the ideal way to make his side get even better.

Manchester United could get a cut-price deal here, with Tielemans’ Leicester contract running out at the end of the season, giving them greater bargaining power in this regard.

It’s believed that Tielemans was also open to a move to Manchester in the summer transfer window, but United opted for other options instead, such as their failed pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.

Ten Hag wants a creative option who can also act in place of Christian Eriksen, who has played brilliantly since joining, but the manager would like the chance to rotate more.

In terms of right-back, Ten Hag wants competition for Diogo Dalot and may look to the Eredivisie again, while up in attack, he wants a long-term solution, with someone like Brian Brobbey being considered for the future.
