Manchester United have reportedly taken a keen eye to Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin as their search for a new forward continues.

Erik ten Hag's side have seen an €80 million offer for Ajax's Antony turned down by the Eredivisie giants, but are said to be interested in upping their bid in an attempt to land the Brazilian.

PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo has also been linked with a move, with the Red Devils looking for reinforcements in forward areas.

Cristiano Ronaldo was benched for their third Premier League game of the season, against Liverpool, and has asked to leave the club in order to play Champions League football.

However, the Portuguese superstar is still at the club although his future is still unknown.

With Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho enduring tough spells over the past year, despite both scoring against Liverpool, Man Utd are looking at bolstering their options in that area of the pitch.

As a result, they've reportedly turned to Saint-Maximin, according to Media Foot Marseille.

Antony remains their number one target, but the Frenchman is reportedly a player that Man Utd admire as the transfer window enters its final stages.

It's understood that Saint-Maximin is a player that several clubs around Europe have their eye on after an excellent stint at St James' Park since joining the Magpies in 2019.

Saint-Maximin has started the 2022-23 Premier League season well, assisting two goals in the first three games of the new campaign, which has put his name into the limelight for a potential transfer away.

He won't come cheap

With Newcastle's owners the richest in world football, there is little incentive for the club to sell an asset such as Saint-Maximin.

If there were to allow him to leave, it would be for an enormous fee, and it remains to be seen whether Man Utd would be happy to pay what Newcastle would demand.
