We’re only a few days into the new January transfer window but Barcelona have already made fireworks with a number of deals.

Not only have the Catalan giants forked over a reported €55 million to sign Manchester City forward Ferran Torres, but they’ve also managed to find a suitor for Philippe Countinho.

The Brazil international was unfortunate in becoming an expensive flop at Camp Nou but will now have the opportunity to get his career back on track by rebuilding his reputation in the Premier League.

On Friday afternoon, Aston Villa confirmed that they had agreed a deal to bring the playmaker to Villa Park on loan for the remainder of the season.

And, according to reports in Spain, details over the financial breakdown of the deal between both clubs have now been released.

How much are Barca and Villa paying Coutinho?

Indeed, Catalan radio station “Que T'hi Jugues” published a report on Friday confirming that Coutinho’s salary at Barca currently stands at a staggering €24 million per year.

Now that the player has agreed to join Villa for the second half of the season, that should mean that the Premier League side should pay €12m of that.

However, according to the Catalan outlet, Villa are only paying €8m, which means Barca will need to fork out €4m between now and May for a player that isn’t even playing for their club.

The report also stated that a clause has been included in the deal that would allow Villa to buy Coutinho for a set fee of €40m. Which is someway short of the €135m Barca paid for the Brazil international in 2018.

Bizarrely enough, the report also claims that Tottenham Hotspur have also been promised this set fee to sign Coutinho, which could mean Spurs end up landing the playmaker if he enjoys a second half of the season.
