Cristiano Ronaldo: Spanish businessman takes control of CR7’s future with Club World Cup ticket

Cristiano Ronaldo’s next club is becoming increasingly apparent, with reports in Spain claiming that a businessman is set to send the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend to the FIFA Club World Cup.
Ronaldo seemed to wave goodbye to Al-Nassr earlier this week, with the Portugal icon having failed to agree a new contract with the Saudi Pro League side, despite reports earlier this year suggesting that he was in line for a blockbuster €400 million deal.
The 40-year-old is now set to come crashing back to earth with an “average European salary”, according to Marca. Ronaldo currently earns €200 million per year at Al-Nassr.
Who will Cristiano Ronaldo sign for?
Several teams have approached the former Man Utd star but the one emerging as a surprise frontrunner to sign him is Wydad Casablanca.
The deal with the Moroccan side is said the be fronted by a “Spanish businessman with close ties to the player himself and the African club”. Beyond this description, there is no indication on who could be behind this shock rumour.
It is stressed that Ronaldo would not have the possibility of earning anything like the salary he gets at Al-Nassr, but they could offer him the chance of playing at the FIFA Club World Cup, where there is a lucrative pot of prize money on offer.
In order to facilitate transfers like this, all federations with a club competing in the competition have been given special dispensation to open a special third transfer window for the first 10 days of June.
While Marca stresses that there is serious interest from numerous clubs, it does add that one possibility that is “completely ruled out” is Ronaldo moving to Saudi Pro League rivals Al-Hilal.
