Chelsea transfer news: What is Paulo Dybala’s release clause?

Roma star Paulo Dybala has a release clause in his contract of just €12 million, which will be active for a limited period this summer.
Dybala has a minimum fee release clause of €12m that is valid for all non-Italian clubs throughout July 2024.
The Argentine had a similar release clause that was valid in the summer of 2023 but ended up remaining at Roma.

His contract at Roma expires in 2025 but there is a chance he could decide to renew his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.
A lot could depend on whether Roma qualify for the Champions League next season as to whether Dybala opts to stay/renew or look to move on.
According to a number of reports in Italy, Chelsea are considering making a move for Dybala this summer.

The Blues had been interested in signing Dybala in the summer of 2023, with then-new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino known to be a big admirer of his Argentine countryman.
Pochettino previously failed to sign Dybala for Tottenham in 2019.
He could return for another bid this summer, while Barcelona have also been linked.

Dybala at Roma
Dybala signed for Roma on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
The Argentine had been a free agent since leaving Juventus at the end of his contract in June 2022, with the breakup being acrimonious after the Bianconeri went back on a previous gentleman’s agreement to extend his deal.
Dybala was Roma’s star player in his first season, scoring 18 goals and delivering seven assists in all competitions from 29 starts.
This season he has also impressed, with 14 goals and nine assists in 32 games in all competitions.
