Manchester United have named Denzel Dumfries as a “concrete” transfer target ahead of the summer transfer window as Erik ten Hag eyes a new right-back.

Dumfries, 27, only has 18 months left on his current contract at Inter Milan and the Netherlands international could leave the San Siro outfit this summer due an ongoing wage dispute.

According to CaughtOffside, Dumfries is willing to sign a new contract with the Italian giants if they agree to pay him an annual salary of €5 million. However, Inter are currently not prepared to offer more than €3.5m per year.

As a result, the two parties are at a stalemate and Man Utd could pounce.

CaughtOffside have reported that Man Utd’s interest in Dumfries is “concrete,” while Inter will reportedly accept a fee of €20m due to the fact his contract expires in 2025.

The Dutchman’s current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €23.5m, meaning Inter’s valuation is extremely fair for a player who has impressed during his time in Serie A.

Dumfries has two goals and three assists in 18 league games this season, although Inter have seemingly already planned for his departure after signing Tajon Bucanan from Club Brugge in January.

Do Man Utd need to sign Denzel Dumfries?

While signing a new right-back has been widely reported as one of Man Utd’s aims ahead of the summer transfer window, Ten Hag remains impressed by the Red Devils’ current right-back Diogo Dalot.

After the 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, Ten Hag told reporters: “Everyone gets criticism but he [Dalot] is a fantastic player who is developing very well.

“He can play in so many positions and he is improving on crosses. He can score and his defending is improving so I am very pleased with him.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also an option for Man Utd, but he has been linked with an exit for over a year amid his mixed form since moving to Old Trafford.

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly also interested in signing Dumfries, with the Bundesliga side preparing for Jeremie Frimpong to potentially leave the club. Frimpong, like Dumfries, has also been linked with Man Utd.
