Celtic reach 'agreement' to sign €6m forward

Celtic have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of €6 million.

The Egypt international has been on Celtic’s radar for several weeks and they have intensified talks over a possible summer deal following his impressive form at the 2026 World Cup in North America.

Hassan caught the eye as Egypt reached the round of 16 before a late defeat to eventual runners-up Argentina and he is now on the verge of finalising a move to Celtic Park for around €6m, as per reports in Spain (via The Daily Record and Sport Witness).

It’s understood that he will travel to Glasgow shortly in order to undergo a medical and the transfer is set to be formally announced before Celtic’s Champions League play-off first-leg versus LASK.

Hassan will be able to feature in the fixture if he is registered before Thursday’s deadline and it’s reported that his move to Celtic Park will be finalised in time.

Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis has also been on Celtic’s radar throughout the summer window, but they have been priced out of a move for the Algerian and Hassan is now close to becoming the club’s third signing of the summer.

Last week, Hassan was excluded from Real Oviedo's squad for their pre-season friendly against Le Havre and when asked about his absence, head coach Julian Calero told reporters: “We all know him and of course he could have been a good fit, but we also have to consider the club's finances, the player's wishes, and offers from other clubs.

“We have a salary cap and we were aware that departures were necessary, and he was one of the possibilities. These are the circumstances, and I have to adapt.”

Analysis: Where will Haissem Hassan play at Celtic?

Hassan failed to score a single goal in all competitions for Real Oviedo last season, but Celtic are set to bring him to the club as their new right winger.

Martin O’Neill already has a plethora of wide options at his disposal, including Camilo Duran, Sebastian Tounekti and Yang Hyun-Jun, but Hassan will provide much-needed depth in attack as Celtic look to defend their Scottish Premiership crown.

The Egyptian is likely to play a rotation role during his first season at Celtic Park, although he could cement his place as O’Neill’s favoured right winger if he puts together a consistent run of form following his arrival.
