Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez has confirmed that Celtic target Dinko Horkas has asked to leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window.

Horkas, 27, has emerged as a primary target for Celtic this summer, with Martin O’Neill’s side eager to lure him to Glasgow following Kasper Schmeichel’s decision to retire following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

The Croatian goalkeeper has been on Celtic’s radar for several weeks and they have already lodged their first official bid to sign him as they look to finalise a deal before Transfer Deadline Day on 1 September.

This offer has been confirmed by Ramirez, but the Scottish giants have been informed they must increase their bid to €5 million if they are to bring Horkas to Celtic Park this summer.

“Horkas is a player for Las Palmas who has asked the club to let him leave,” Ramirez admitted (via Sport Witness). “The club won’t let him go because the only offer we have [from Celtic] isn’t attractive.

“He says it will be difficult for him to continue playing for Las Palmas since he had an offer from the Emirates that would have been a lifesaver. Horkas says he doesn’t feel strong or motivated enough to stay on the team.

“But there are other ways we can contribute to help the team. If he doesn’t want to play, maybe he can help us mark the field or set up the nets (irony).

“He has a contract with Las Palmas and will remain if the offer he has doesn’t meet Las Palmas’ demand. We’re talking about €5m. They’re offering us €4m to be paid over 4 years. We’re asking for €5m and 50% of any future transfer fee.”

Who have Celtic signed so far this summer?

Celtic have been relatively quiet during the early weeks of the summer transfer window, and they now have less than a month remaining to finalise the rest of their business.

Their forward line has been reinforced by the signings of Kasper Hogh (Bodo/Glimt) and Camilo Duran (Qarabag), but they are yet to add any other new players, and the 2026-27 Scottish Premiership is already underway.

Arch-rivals Rangers, by comparison, have signed nine new stars so far this summer, including Hearts duo Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin on Bosman deals.
