Rangers receive €15m Chermiti bid as Danny Rohl makes firm decision
Rangers have been offered a stunning bid worth up to €15 million for summer signing Youssef Chermiti, with Turkish side Galatasaray hoping to sign the former Everton star.
Chermiti became Rangers’ most expensive player in more than a quarter of a century when he arrived in the summer from the Premier League side in a deal worth €8.6m.
But the 21-year-old has struggled to live up to his price tag. Aside from an Old Firm brace against Celtic, he has served to disappoint at Ibrox, netting only four goals in 25 games.
Galatasaray bid rejected
Galatasaray offered Rangers the opportunity to make a surprise profit on the striker, but according to Sky Sports, their offer was “immediately dismissed”.
It is claimed that Gers boss Danny Rohl does not want to sell any players as his side chase down the Scottish Premiership title.
Rohl has helped to lift his side to second in the standings amid a run of eight successive victories across all competitions. Rangers, though, have scored fewer goals than both third-placed Celtic and second-placed Hearts.
Indeed, the aim of the Ibrox club remains to add another forward to their ranks before the transfer window closes in Scotland on 2 February at 11pm.
Rangers have been linked with a move for Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi.
Rangers show faith in Chermiti
Chermiti has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €8.8m, suggesting that Rangers have turned down a bid of nearly twice his worth from Galatasaray.
Based on what he has produced so far at Ibrox, there is a sense that they have missed a good opportunity to offload a struggling star for an excellent price, yet this also speaks of the belief those inside the Glasgow club have in him.
While Rohl wants to maintain the depth in his squad, Danilo has also been linked with a record move back to the Eredivisie.
