The big spenders will be out in force again this summer, with Real Madrid looking to back new boss Xabi Alonso, Chelsea keen to improve again after securing Champions League qualification, and Manchester United desperate to reclaim some kind of success after a disastrous season that saw them finish just three places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha, with Man City also flexing their financial power to sign Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki.

Some big deals happened earlier than usual due to the Club World Cup and the deadline for participation in that tournament is now over, though the window remains open.

The biggest deal so far this summer saw Florian Wirtz complete a blockbuster transfer to Liverpool from Leverkusen.

Some questions that will hang over the transfer window this season:

  • Will Viktor Gyokeres leave Sporting CP?
  • Who will sign Victor Osimhen?
  • How much can Barcelona spend?
  • Will top players want to join Man Utd?
  • Will Arsenal sign a world-class striker?

Do Real Madrid need a complete rebuild?

Inter Miami open talks with Rodrigo De Paul

Inter Miami have made progress in talks with Atletico Madrid over Rodrigo De Paul, reports Fabrizio Romano.

It's looking likely that Luis Suarez will leave the MLS side when his contract expires before the end of the year which will open up a Designated Player spot within the squad.

Miami are desperate for Lionel Messi to stay, and some might say that the acquisition of one of his Argentina team-mates, De Paul, might convince him to remain in the United States.

United's new number 10

Matheus Cunha was confirmed as Man Utd's new number 10 today and he's certainly delighted about it!

"Yeah, wow! It's something that you always dream about," he said at the presentation.

"I can mention many players that use this shirt. It's so easy for me.  Of course, I think the one that I always think about when I see this number in this shirt for me was Wayne Rooney. He was someone that I grew up to watch play and I have (watched) many games now.

"Then I swapped shirts with Marcus (Rashford, after a game) also. I have his shirt in my home. But, of course, we know many players used this shirt - Van Nistelrooy, Ibrahimovic. It's the dream not only to use the shirt, but with all the history they have around the number, it's something beautiful that I have the privilege to do."

Fiorentina sign Dzeko from Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce reach Asensio agreement

Fenerbahce have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over Marco Asensio, but personal terms are yet to be agreed.

Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu confirmed on Twitter:

"Fenerbahçe and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement for Marco Asensio. Asensio was offered an annual salary of 9 million euros. However, the player found this offer insufficient and requested a salary increase. Contract negotiations with the player have begun!"

So Napoli are NOT trying to sign Garnacho?

Juve to battle Inter for Dodo

Both Juventus and Inter are interested in Dodo.

The Brazilian right-back has been with Fiorentina for three years now and reportedly wants to move on for another challenge, with the Viola looking for around €30 million for the player.

Inter view Dodo as an ideal replacement for Denzel Dumfries who could leave San Siro for as little as €25m due to a low release clause. (Corriere dello Sport)

Ajax confirm Henderson departure

Ajax have confirmed that Jordan Henderson will leave on a free transfer.

A statement on Twitter reads:

"Jordan Henderson is leaving Ajax. The club has cooperated with the player's request to terminate the current employment contract. The Englishman's contract with Ajax ran until June 30, 2026, but now ends immediately. Thanks for everything, captain."

United announce deal for wonderkid

Confusion around Calhanoglu

There seems to be a bit of confusion as to whether Hakan Calhanoglu will leave Inter or stay this summer.

The Turkey international was involved in a public spat with the Inter sporting director and was apparently called out publicly by Lautaro Martinez during the Club World Cup.

He looked destined for Galatasaray, but with them focusing on Victor Osimhen, it's looking likely that he'll remain at San Siro.

“You can’t say for sure he’s staying,” Italian transfers expert Alfredo Pedulla told FCInter1908.

“As if nothing has happened. Suddenly, after he says he wants to leave at all costs, and has a public spat with Lautaro, he’s staying at Inter?”
