Qualifying for the 2024 European Championship is now over and the 24 nations who will take part have been decided.

The three play-off finals took place on 26 March 2024, with Georgia, Ukraine and Poland qualifying for the tournament. They joined hosts Germany and 20 others who had already sealed qualification through the regular method.

Euro 2024 qualifying began back in March 2023 for the 53 countries attempting to seal their spot in the 17th edition of the competition.

The final matchday of the regular qualification took place between 19-21 November, with 20 countries qualifying by virtue of finishing in the top two positions in the 10 groups.

Which nations have qualified for Euro 2024?

Germany, France, Portugal, Belgium, Scotland, Spain, Turkey, Austria, England, Hungary, Slovakia, Albania, Denmark, Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, Georgia, Ukraine and Poland are the 24 teams who will compete at Euro 2024, with the qualification process now over.

Germany were the first nation to seal their place in the tournament due to the fact they are the hosts of the competition.

As a result, they were not been required to take part in the qualification process as the hosts are always granted a place in the tournament.

France, Portugal and Belgium joined them in securing qualification on 13 October 2023. France beat the Netherlands 2-1 to pick up their sixth win in sixth qualifying games, while Portugal survived a late scare to narrowly edge to a 3-2 victory over Slovakia thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo brace.

France's talisman Kylian Mbappe also netted two during their win against Netherlands.

Like Portugal, Belgium also sealed their place at the 2024 European Championships with a 3-2 win. Goals from Dodi Lukebakio (x2) and Romelu Lukaku saw Belgium go 3-0 up before Konrad Laimer and Marcel Sabitzer almost spoiled the party.

Nevertheless, Belgium qualified for the tournament, despite Amadou Onana's 78th-minute red card.

Scotland, Spain and Turkey then booked their place at Euro 2024 on 15 October 2023, followed by Austria on 16 October.

The next day it was England's turn to qualify as they got revenge for the Euro 2020 final by beating reigning champions Italy 3-1, thanks to a brace from Harry Kane and a strike from Marcus Rashford.

On 16 November, Hungary and Slovakia joined the party in sealing qualification for Euro 2024. A 97th-minute equaliser sealed a 2-2 draw for Hungary against Bulgaria, which booked their place in Germany, while Slovakia beat Iceland 4-2.

Albania and Denmark followed suit the next day. The former drew 1-1 with Moldova and thus qualified for only their second-ever Euros and second major tournament after the 2016 edition. A few hours later, Denmark made it in thanks to a 2-1 win over Slovenia.

The Netherlands qualified after defeating Ireland 1-0, while Romania triumphed over Israel to qualify and Switzerland drew with Kosovo to seal their spot in the competition.

Serbia became the 17th country to book their place at Euro 2024 after a 2-2 draw against Bulgaria on 19 November.

The next day, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Italy all qualified at the same time. Czech Republic defeated 10-man Moldova 3-0 and Slovenia beat Kazakhstan 2-1, while a 0-0 draw with Ukraine was enough for reigning champions Italy to get in.

The Azzurri suffered a massive scare when Mykhailo Mudryk was denied a decent penalty claim in injury time, which could have sent Italy to another playoff. Croatia were the final team to book their ticket through regular qualifying thanks to a 1-0 win over Armenia.

In the play-offs, Georgia sealed their place at Euro 2024 via a penalty shootout win over Greece, while Mudryk scored the winner in Ukraine's 2-1 win against Iceland.

Poland were the final team to qualify for Euro 2024 after they beat Wales on penalties.

What are the Euro 2024 playoffs?

There were 12 teams in the Euro 2024 qualification playoffs. These 12 teams were divided into three paths; Path A, Path B and Path C, with four teams in each path.

There were two one-legged semi-finals in each path, with the two winners of each semi-final meeting in the final.

The winner of each final then qualified for Euro 2024, meaning that three teams in total made it to the finals from the playoffs.

When were the Euro 2024 playoffs?
