Real Madrid put SIX on the transfer block as plan for Chelsea raid on Fernandez emerges
Real Madrid are set to allow six first team players to leave this summer, with the Spanish giants desperate to rejuvenate their squad after a turbulent campaign.
Although Los Blancos progressed to the last-16 of the Champions League after defeating Manchester City this week, Alvaro Arbeloa’s side sit four points behind rivals Barcelona in La Liga, having already been knocked out of the Copa Del Rey.
While the long-term future of Arbeloa remains uncertain, Real are keen to continue evolving their squad, which will see six players being moved on at the end of the season, according to BILD.
David Alaba is said to be ‘at the top of the hit list’, with the 33-year-old’s set to depart on a free when his contract expires, having made just three La Liga starts this season.
Antonio Rudiger could also depart when his deal runs out in June but, with the defender having come back into the team in recent weeks, talks may still be held at the end of the campaign, along with captain Dani Carvajal, who is in a similar situation.
Real would then like to cash in on Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy as well as Eduardo Camavinga, who the club are believed to be willing to sell if a bid of €50 million is received.
Big money departures could finance Real Madrid’s Enzo Fernandez transfer
Wholesale changes could be made in Madrid this summer, particularly if the club do seek to replace Arbeloa with a more experienced coach in the summer, such as Jurgen Klopp, who has reportedly made a list of transfer demands if he is to take the reigns.
Much will also depend on the future of Vinicius Junior, with the Brazilian still yet to agree a new contract despite entering the final 18 months of his deal and a big money move to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere may emerge after the World Cup if no resolution is found.
Otherwise, Camavinga will prove to be Real’s biggest asset to generate income, particularly if his ETV of €54.7m is received, with Liverpool among the sides said to be considering a move for the Frenchman.
Camavinga’s departure could pave the way for a big money pursuit of Enzo Fernandez after the Chelsea superstar opened the door to a move this week following his refusal to commit his future to the club.
Chelsea would demand a fee in excess of €120m for Fernandez but, having admired the midfielder for many years, Real see the Argentine international as the solution to their long-term midfield problems.
