Real Madrid stunned by shock transfer request
Real Madrid youngster Franco Mastantuono has requested to leave the club on loan during the January transfer window, according to a bombshell report in Spain.
The 18-year-old arrived at the Bernabeu from River Plate for a fee of €45 million in August and he quickly established himself as a regular starter under new boss Xabi Alonso.
However, the Argentina wonderkid missed four games through injury in late November and he has failed to work his way back into Alonso’s preferred starting XI since his return to full fitness.
Mastantuono has been an unused substitute in four of Real Madrid’s last six matches across all competitions, while he was only introduced off the bench in the final minute of their 2-1 victory over Alaves in La Liga on Sunday.
While the teenager remains absolutely committed to Los Blancos’ long-term project, he is keen to explore the possibility of leaving the club on loan when the January transfer window opens.
That is according to a blockbuster report from Spanish publication Fichajes, who claim that Mastantuono has formally asked the Real Madrid hierarchy to temporarily leave the club next month.
It’s stated that he is eager to maximise his game time during the second half of the season in order to boost his chances of being selected for Argentina’s 2026 World Cup squad by Lionel Scaloni.
Franco Mastantuono to leave Real Madrid?
Fichajes report that several La Liga clubs have already approached Real Madrid over a short-term loan deal for Mastantuono, although the Spanish giants are yet to make a final decision on whether they will sanction a transfer.
With Endrick expected to complete a loan move to Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais, Alonso’s attacking options will already be diminished without Mastantuono departing and this could complicate things for the Argentine.
Furthermore, Rodrygo continues to be linked with a Bernabeu exit and Real Madrid will almost certainly block a potential deal for Mastantuono if the Brazil superstar leaves the club.
