Real Madrid name asking price for Vinicius Junior with new contract 'very unlikely'
Real Madrid have named their asking price for Vinicius Junior as doubts continue to grow over the Brazilian star’s future at the club, with Premier League sides believed to be circling.
Vini Jr’s contract is due to expire in 2027 and negotiations over an extension are believed to have ‘completely stalled’ according to Fichajes, who claim that an agreement at this point appears ‘very unlikely’.
Madrid are still keen to extend Vini’s deal but the 25-year-old is believed to be demanding a salary that would make him the club’s highest earner above the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham and he has so far rejected the terms being offered.
The situation is believed to be creating ‘uncertainty’ in the Madrid dressing room and Vinicius is said to be considering a change of scenery if there is no progress made, particularly with rumoured tension between the forward and manager Xabi Alonso.
Vini sparked controversy by storming off after being substituted in his side’s win over Barcelona last month, particularly after failing to mention Alonso in an apology for his behaviour.
While the pair’s relationship is still considered healthy, Alonso is thought to be keen to implement a new tactical style which could clash with Vinicius’ play style and see him sold, particularly with his continued contract impasse.
Premier League sides on alert as Real Madrid set Vinicius Junior asking price
As a result, Real have reportedly slapped a minimum asking price of €150 million on their star man, with Premier League sides considered the only realistic targets to be tempted by the huge valuation.
Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs that have been linked with a move, while Manchester City are also believed to have joined the race for Vini’s signature.
However, a long-rumoured move to the Saudi Pro League is now said to be ‘unrealistic’, with Saudi Arabia thought to be slowing down their large-scale investments, while Vini is understood to prefer to remain in Europe.
The situation still remains open, with both Vini and Los Blancos keen to agree to a new contract, although it appears one party will have to compromise on its demands in order to avoid the situation dragging on throughout the season.
