Barcelona believe they have already unearthed the next Lamine Yamal in 15-year-old wonderkid Ebrima Tunkara, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Yamal's impact since breaking onto the scene in April 2023, aged 15, has been nothing short of astonishing. The Spain international only turned 18 in the summer, yet he is already a European champion with his country and a treble winner with Barcelona.

The teenager is a two-time Kopa Trophy winner and this year's Ballon d'Or runner-up. Unsurprisingly, then, Yamal is viewed as Barcelona's heir to eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

However, the Blaugrana's famed La Masia academy relentlessly churns out high-quality talent, and some already believe that Ebrima Tunkara could be the club's 'next Yamal.'

At least that is according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who reports that the highly-rated 15-year-old is set to be rewarded with a new contract to tie him to Barcelona for the foreseeable future.

Barcelona bullish over Tunkara

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed reports from Spain that revealed that superagent Pini Zahavi had arrived in Barcelona to meet with club president Joan Laporta. In addition to discussing the future of Robert Lewandowski, the two will also discuss Tunkara.

"The future of Barcelona, save his name: Ebrima Tunkara," Romano said. "Born in March 2010, 15 years old, winger, super talent. Barcelona and Pini Zahavi are discussing about the future of Ebrima Tunkara.

"He could be the next big thing coming out of La Masia. A big talent, a very, very talented player with big potential. His potential is impressive. His contract, his future, is one of the topics being discussed between Zahavi and Barcelona with the president Joan Laporta.

"Keep an eye on Tunkara because Barcelona have one more gem. Some say in Spain that he could maybe be the next Lamine Yamal. So, Tunkara is a really interesting player to follow."

Tunkara was born in The Gambia, but he has only represented Spain at the youth level to date. The Barcelona U19 attacker has scored three goals in four appearances for La Roja's U17s.
