Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has approached FIFA in a bid to terminate his contract after being omitted from their Premier League squad for 2026-27.

The Brazil forward played a key role for Spurs last season, scoring 12 goals in 43 games across all competitions, but he is now desperate to leave the club after his exclusion from their 25-man squad for the new English top flight campaign.

Richarlison had been heavily linked with a return to Everton during the summer transfer window, with Iliman Ndiaye expected to move in the opposite direction, but he rejected the chance to join David Moyes’ side and Ndiaye’s proposed move to Spurs subsequently fell through.

He was then tipped to complete a move to Turkey, however the transfer window slammed shut before he was able to finalise a deal and he has now been left in limbo.

Richarlison has just one year remaining on his current contract at Tottenham and while he will be able to leave the club as a free agent next summer, the Brazilian wants to depart now and he has approached FIFA in a bid to terminate his contract early.

That is according to a report from talkSPORT, who claim that Richarlison believes he has a strong case for his contract to be ripped up following his omission from Roberto De Zerbi’s Premier League squad.

Richarlison’s exclusion comes following Spurs’ decision to bolster their forward ranks with the signings of Omar Marmoush, Savio and Mykhailo Mudryk over the summer, and the 29-year-old is reportedly in talks with Brazilian side Vasco da Gama over a possible Bosman move.

Richarlison’s decision to approach FIFA comes after he released a public statement on the penultimate day of the summer transfer window amid rumours that he could return to Everton.

“After everything I've been through in the last few years, I decided that NEVER AGAIN would anyone decide my future for me,” the Spurs striker posted on X.

“I went through a lot of bad things during that time, and almost all of them happened because of decisions made by other people. Pressure, threats, retaliation—none of that scares me. I've been through worse things... believe me!

“I've always made it clear, at every opportunity, that any move of mine to another place would also have to be good for the club. If it wasn't, I would never accept it... just like I didn't accept it when everything here was falling apart and they needed me. I stayed and gave my life.

“So, I hope they treat my situation with the same respect that I've always had for the Spurs and for all the people who worked with me during this period. Just don't try to decide for me.”
