Barcelona 'on the attack' for €110m pair

Barcelona are 'on the attack' for Dani Olmo and Nico Williams, according to Spanish media.

The Blaugrana have already managed to achieve one of their goals of the summer transfer window: convince head coach Xavi to stay on board. As exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers in early April, Barcelona had to promise the 44-year-old some major signings to get him to continue.

This, of course, is a bit of a problem given their delicate financial situation. There are yet again concerns over their ability to spend and this is already leading to murmurs in the Spanish press that someone like Joao Felix, on loan from Atletico Madrid, won't be able to remain at the club.

The situation, however, could be somewhat alleviated by departures and one possible exit exploded into life on Monday when Vitor Roque's agent claimed that the youngster will look for a permanent move away in the summer - despite only arriving in January - unless Xavi and company make it clear that he will have a role to play in the team next term.

Either way, it is clear that Barcelona will need to raise funds before being able to splash the cash on summer signings, but that hasn't stopped them from identifying targets. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana are now 'on the attack' for Dani Olmo and Nico Williams.

Barcelona are long-time admirers of both and, of course, they know RB Leipzig playmaker Olmo well as he is a former La Masia product. Winger Williams, meanwhile, has been tearing up LaLiga for Athletic Club. Both players are also on the radar of clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.

The club appear to favour a move for Olmo because signing him, it is claimed, would be easier despite his release clause (60 million) being higher than William's (€50m). The 26-year-old is keen to return to Catalunya and Barca are 'willing to go hard for him.'

A move for Williams, however, also can't be ruled out, asserts the Spanish outlet. But Athletic will insist on the €50m being paid in one instalment, which makes it incredibly difficult for Barcelona to pursue him despite their great admiration for the 21-year-old.
