La Liga president Javier Tebas has claimed Real Madrid would end up rejoicing at the prospect of signing Kylian Mbappe if the Paris Saint-Germain forward signs for the club.

Mbappe is desperate to leave PSG just months after extending his contract and angering Real by going back on his commitment to join them.

The 23-year-old is furious over the club seemingly failing to live up to the conditions that they had promised him when he signed his two-year deal and is now looking to leave at the earliest opportunity.

Mbappe is believed to want to join Real but the Spaniards are thought to still be harbouring hostility over his broken commitment and are reportedly prioritising a 2024 move for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

However, Tebas – a self-confessed Real Madrid fan – believes the club and its supporters would end up ‘applauding’ Mbappe and get over the hurt if he ends up joining the club.

”When I talk about Madrid, I do it thinking of most of their fans, who always are looking for exceptional players and top world quality. And Mbappe is one of those players," Tebas told ESPN.

"I can see it's difficult for the club because it hurts what he did to Madrid in the summer, but I don't think fans are going to say no to adding such a player to their squad. If Mbappe comes, he will be applauded, cheered, followed, I am convinced.”

Real not considering Mbappe move

Despite Mbappe allegedly privately admitting that rejecting Real in the summer was a ‘mistake’, the Spanish side are not planning on reigniting their longstanding interest in the Frenchman.

The club are believed to be focusing on other targets such as Haaland, with a move for Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham said to be the club’s main priority next summer.

Some reports have suggested that PSG will not consider selling Mbappe to Madrid anyway, even going as far as to have a clause that would see Real needing to pay a staggering €400 million if they wanted to sign him.

With Haaland believed to have a €200m release clause that will become active in 2024, Real believe the Norwegian would be a more suitable signing, although a move for Mbappe has not been completely ruled out if PSG lower their asking price.
