Historic Lamine Yamal bid prepared: Barcelona faced with €350m decision
Barcelona have been told to prepare themselves for a “super offer” from PSG, who want to sign Lamine Yamal in the summer transfer window.
The Parisians, who hold the world transfer record for the €222 million they spent to trigger Neymar’s Barcelona release clause in 2019, are said to be willing to smash that figure and offer €350m for Lamine.
This unprecedented offer is currently being prepared and will be made to Barcelona for the 18-year-old star in the summer, according to Fichajes, which describes the offer as “historic”.
Barcelona will ‘sit down and listen’
PSG’s ambition is to make Lamine Yamal “the new leader of their project”, the report claims, but Barcelona’s stance is clear: the Spain attacker is not for sale.
However, there is a “layer of complexity” to the negotiations. Barca’s difficult financial situation could prompt them to “at the very least, sit down and listen”.
Even in this case, the Blaugrana see Yamal as a player who is irreplaceable and cannot be sold.
The teenager is already seen as Barca’s standout player, and this season already has 21 goals and 16 assists to his credit. In addition, he holds further symbolic value for the club having progressed through La Masia.
Furthermore, it would deal a damaging blow to the credibility of president Joan Laporta if he were to allow such a player to depart so shortly after winning the latest election.
How much is Lamine Yamal worth?
The magnitude of a €350m offer is enormous. It is €128m more than any other deal previously done in footballing history, with moves over the €100m mark still comparatively rare.
Lamine Yamal, though, is the most valuable player in the game. According to the analysis of data analytics firm SciSports, the teenager has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €163m, down from a peak of €185m in December.
This figure is calculated using real in-game statistics and thousands of historical transfers.
The Most Valuable Footballers in the World
| Rank | Name | Club | Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) |
| 1 | Lamine Yamal | Barcelona | €162.9m |
| 2 | Erling Haaland | Man City | €145.5m |
| 3 | Pau Cubarsi | Barcelona | €133.9m |
| 4 | Julian Alvarez | Atletico Madrid | €129.2m |
| 5 | Michael Olise | Bayern Munich | €128.2m |
Lamine Yamal to PSG: An unlikely deal
PSG, meanwhile, have shown little desire to conduct moves for superstar players following the failure of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar to land them the Champions League.
Indeed, they won the title in the first season following the departure of all of this trio with a vibrant crop of young stars.
Lamine Yamal would, of course, readily fit among this group yet PSG have performed a full U-turn on players with superstar attitudes, even battling existing stars Ousmane Dembele and Senny Mayulu over their contract demands.
With PSG also having a focus on young French players, ideally from the Paris region, it would be a massive surprise if they were to launch such an aggressive bid for Yamal at this point in time.
