Marcus Rashford admits he wants Barcelona stay as ‘perfect scenario’ revealed
Marcus Rashford has declared that he wants to sign for Barcelona from Manchester United on a permanent basis.
Rashford took a wage cut to join the Catalan side on loan in the summer after a disagreement with Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim saw him frozen out at Old Trafford.
Since moving to Hansi Flick’s side, the England international has excelled, posting five goals and six assists in 12 appearances.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously indicated that there is an increasing chance that Rashford will remain with the Camp Nou side beyond the terms of his loan contract, with the Blaugrana having a €30 million purchase option.
Now the player has moved to confirm that it is his desire to remain in Catalunya.
Rashford confirms he wants Barcelona stay
Speaking to ESPN, Rashford said when asked directly if he wants to stay at Barcelona: “Oh yeah, for sure.
“I’m enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it’s an honour.”
Asked to pick the Barcelona players who have impressed him most, Rashford gave two unsurprising answers.
The Englishman explained: “Lots of players have lots of qualities but probably the standouts are Lamine Yamal. And, for me, Pedri is unbelievable.
“I knew he was good before I played with him. But to play with him everyday is unbelievable.
“Relationships on the pitch, the ones I am still learning, are very important. When it comes to the matchday, these are things which make small differences.
“They have such high quality. It's the perfect scenario to play with players like this.”
Reasons for Man Utd departure revealed
When asked about his exit from Man Utd, Rashford did not cite differences with Amorim as being a driving force, instead focusing on a need for a fresh start.
He explained: “It was so many years in one place. People forget this, but 24 years, 23 years of my life was with Manchester United. So sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me and yeah, I'm enjoying everything.”
