In less than two weeks, Kylian Mbappé will be able to negotiate with other clubs, since he’ll have less than six months remaining on his Paris Saint-Germain contract. Real Madrid are the French forward’s most likely destination as Los Blancos bid €180m for him during the summer, only to have that rejected by PSG.

Now, the decision will be Mbappé’s to make and he has publicly expressed his admiration for Real Madrid on multiple occasions, not least in the comic book he recently published titled ‘Je m'appelle Kylian’.

Camavinga’s funny response to a question about Mbappé

When Real Madrid failed to land Mbappé in the summer, they spent some of the funds they saved to bring Eduardo Camavinga to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The 19-year-old midfielder is long-term project, but has already made an impact this season and is already winning over Real Madrid fans.

As the teenager passed by the gates at the Valdebebas training centre, he was stopped by a fan looking for an autograph. Camavinga duly obliged and, as he was stopped, he was asked if he thinks Mbappé will stay in Paris or come to Real Madrid.

Camavinga tried not to laugh as he made a gesture of zipping his mouth shut. He didn’t want to say anything that might fuel speculation, one way or the other, about the forward’s next move.

Camavinga and Mbappé's relationship

Camavinga knows Mbappé from his time with the senior France national team, with the players having coincided on the pitch twice, in matches against Ukraine and Croatia.

When Camavinga signed for Real Madrid on deadline day of the 2021 summer transfer window, Mbappé liked the player’s Instagram post about joining the Spanish club. Perhaps Camavinga will soon be able to like an official announcement of Mbappé’s move to the Bernabéu, but he doesn’t want to five anything away right not, especially not when he’ll have to go up against his fellow Frenchman in the Champions League last 16 tie between Real Madrid and PSG.
