Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer has publicly stated the Bundesliga champions want to keep hold of Alphonso Davies, despite increasing rumours of a move to Real Madrid.

Davies, 23, has less than two years left on his existing Bayern deal and links with a move away have continued to intensify in recent weeks.

Chelsea have previously shown interest in Davies, while Manchester City are reportedly ready to rival Los Blancos for his signature in 2024.

However, Real Madrid is seen as the Canadian’s most likely destination as they aim to finally find a long-term heir for the long-departed Marcelo.

Ferland Mendy has not lived up to the expectations of the Real fanbase, while Fran Garcia hasn’t been able to cement himself as the clear first-choice since his summer move from Rayo Vallecano.

As a result, Davies has been identified as a key transfer target for 2024, but Bayern Munich will not let him leave without putting up a fight.

What has been said?

Bayern President Heiner told Maximilian Koch: “He [Davies] has a contract until 2025 and has become one of the world’s best defenders for us. Of course we want to keep him – and I hope he wants that too.”

Furthermore, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also provided an update on Real Madrid’s pursuit of the defender, posting on Twitter: “Understand Alphonso Davies remains one of the main targets for Real Madrid in 2024. He's not leaving in January but Real keep monitoring him for the next summer window.

“It all depends on Bayern but Real appreciate Davies and will keep sending their people to track him.”

Davies has made 18 appearances in all competitions for the Bavarian giants this season, providing three assists.
