The 17-year-old Brazilian has been dubbed the ‘new Neymar’ and will joined up with Man City when the season in Brazil finishes.

A statement published via Man City’s social channels reads: “We are delighted to confirm we have reached an agreement with Fluminese [sic] regarding the future transfer of Kayky. The teenage forward will remain with Fluminese [sic] until the end of the Brazilian season.”

Man City notably beat Liverpool to the attacker and have also been linked with his midfielder team-mate Metinho in the past.

Is Kayky the new Neymar?

The emergence of such a young talent in Brazil was inevitably going to lead to comparisons with Neymar.

Indeed, since breaking into the Fluminense first team, Kayky has had a similarly impressive impact. His goal against Nova Iguacu on 11 April went viral and only increased the hype surrounding him.

Nevertheless, this has served only to build a burden of expectation upon a player still very young and relatively untested given his lack of first-team experience.

Little wonder, then, that Man City are eager for Kayky to remain with Fluminense until the end of the season, which will finish in December in Brazil, and gain some much-needed experience before moving to Europe.
