Amad Diallo’s incredible baptism at Manchester United goes on as he played a starring role as the Under-23 side overcame Blackburn in a Premier League 2 match.

A high-profile addition from Atalanta in the January transfer window, Diarra made a two-goal debut last weekend against Liverpool.

The 18-year-old arguably surpassed that against Blackburn, a match that Man Utd won 6-4 in incredible fashion. Indeed, they trailed 1-0, 2-0 and then 4-2, yet stormed back with four goals in the final 20 minutes to run out comfortable winners.

Diallo was firmly to the fore, creating United’s second for Shola Shoretire. Racing onto a pass from the highly impressive Hanibal Mejbri – another big-money addition – he played a square cross for his new colleague to convert.

Although Man Utd were rocked early in the second half as they conceded two goals in as many minutes, they finished much the stronger of the teams.

It was Diallo who led the charge as he set up Shoretire to get his side back within a goal once again. This time, it was a deep diagonal cross.

He completed his hat-trick of assists for the forward five minutes later after Joe Hugill had struck a leveller. This time he showed both composure and unselfishness to gather a cross at the back post, assess that a pass was a better option than a shot and execute perfectly.

Diallo completed another memorable night with five minutes left. With Blackburn now distinctly ragged, he fired home a first-time effort from just inside the box.

Man Utd have had several impressive performers in their last two games, but with three goals and three assists already, Amad Diallo has to be knocking on the door of first-team recognition at Old Trafford already.
