Manchester United are wasting little time in being active in the summer transfer window, with manager Erik ten Hag zeroing in on attacking talent Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Man Utd have two major priorities in the market, although Hojlund is not necessarily one of those.

The Red Devils want to add an additional midfielder to their ranks – which they seem well on track to do with the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea in good voice – but they also want to sign a No.9 who can act as an upgrade on Wout Weghorst, who will leave at the end of his loan deal from Burnley.

Ten Hag wants TWO new strikers at Man Utd

While the absolute priority at Man Utd is to add a proven scorer to the squad, The Athletic has revealed that Ten Hag actually wants to add two forwards to his panel this summer.

He wants one promising young player and a more experienced star, although with the club’s takeover in a state of limbo, the finances for such deals are likely to have to come from player sales.

Nevertheless, the club are already exploring all avenues. It is stated that Man Utd have held what are described as “detailed talks” with both players with a view to a summer transfer - confirming the exclusive news FootballTransfers broke in May that the Red Devils were hot on the tail of the Danish international.

Hojlund, who has been compared to fellow Scandinavian Erling Haaland, is the likelier player to move to Old Trafford, with competition for France international Kolo Muani, who is also a priority for Bayern Munich, likely to be intense.

While the Atalanta player will be the up-and-coming forward that Ten Hag wants, it is unclear whether Kolo Muani is considered a senior enough figure to bear the burden of leading the line.

What is evident, however, is that Harry Kane is the manager’s preferred option, although enticing Tottenham into a sale promises to be extremely challenging and incredibly expensive.
