The Chelsea hierarchy reportedly have no intention of sacking Liam Rosenior, despite the club’s recent downturn in form over the past month.

The Englishman oversaw a dramatic improvement in results upon his arrival as the permanent replacement for Enzo Maresca, but the mood around Stamford Bridge has shifted immensely following four consecutive losses for the first time in over 30 years.

Chelsea have only won three of their last 10 matches across all competitions - versus Hull City, Aston Villa and Wrexham - and a large section of the club’s fanbase have called for Rosenior to be sacked amid their current slump.

However, it has been widely reported that Rosenior’s job will be safe for the remainder of the season and this has been confirmed by BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella, who insists there is no indication that he will even be fired at the end of the campaign.

In fact, the Chelsea board remain fully behind Rosenior and the ex-Strasbourg manager has reportedly been “heavily involved” in transfer meetings with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart ahead of the summer window.

As a result, he is expected to remain in the Stamford Bridge dugout next season.

Frank Lampard tipped to return to Chelsea

Although Rosenior’s role as Chelsea head coach appears to be safe for the time being, Manchester United legend Nicky Butt believes the Blues should look to rehire Frank Lampard following the immense job he has done at Coventry City.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Butt said: “It wouldn’t be a stupid thing to go and get Frank Lampard back in charge of Chelsea for me. He’s done a great job at Coventry.

“He’s got a bit more experience now and he probably made a few mistakes the first time around. People need to understand that transfer embargo means you have to rely on loads of young players, that must have been difficult for him.

“He would be a totally different manager now. I think Lampard would find it easier working with better players, it would be easier for him to get his messages across to more technical players.

“If Frank went back into Chelsea, with all the experience he’s got now, I think he would do an amazing job, I really do.”
