UK police release official statement after England fan behaviour at 2026 World Cup
England fans at the 2026 World Cup have once again been praised for their behaviour on the day of their 0-0 draw against Ghana in Boston.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were unable to back up their 4-2 victory over Croatia with another win on Tuesday, with captain Harry Kane missing a huge chance in the dying embers of the match, but they remain in pole position to secure top spot in Group L after picking up four points from their opening two group stage fixtures.
It’s understood that roughly 30,000 England supporters travelled to the Boston Stadium in Foxborough for the game, and for the second consecutive match, it has been confirmed that zero arrests were made.
In an official statement after the goalless draw, Chief Constable Mark Roberts, National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) Lead for Football Policing, said (via The Mirror): “The behaviour of England fans both before, during and after the match, was excellent and was a repeat of the picture in Dallas.
“The local police were very complimentary of them with Chief Grace of Foxborough Police, calling their behaviour ‘exemplary’. There really has been a great atmosphere throughout the city, which has been very welcoming.
“Officers here in Boston and Foxborough have been fantastic to work with, firm but fair and have really contributed to everyone having a memorable experience.”

England fans continue excellent World Cup behaviour
England fans have a notoriously poor reputation at major tournaments, after notable incidents at Euro 2016 and the delayed Euro 2020, but their behaviour at the 2026 World Cup has been much improved.
Three Lions supporters were said to have “stunned” American police with their manners in the hours surrounding their 4-2 win over Croatia last week, while it’s reported that behaviour was also amicable versus Ghana.
It remains to be seen if this will continue when Tuchel’s side face Panama in their final group stage game in New York on Saturday, with the Three Lions aware that a win will likely secure first place in Group L.
