United States forward Trinity Rodman now the highest-paid female footballer in the world

Trinity Rodman is now the highest-paid female footballer on the planet, according to her agent.

The 23-year-old forward, who is the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, has played for Washington Spirit for the entirety of her professional career and left the club following the expiration of her contract on 31 December.

However, she has been enticed back to Spirit thanks to a bumper new contract reportedly worth $2m, including bonuses, that is set to run until 2028.

ESPN reports that Rodman's agent Mike Senkowski confirmed that the new contract was the most lucrative for any player in women's football.

"It feels amazing. I'm very happy. I'm very blessed," Rodman said.

"I think it's a monumental and game-changing moment right now. I can't even describe in words what it feels like."

There has been suggestions that Barcelona's multiple Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati will actually remain the sport's highest-paid athlete due to salary caps that are in place in US Women's Soccer.

In the 2025 season , the salary cap for the National Women's Soccer League was $3.5m per team.

But, a new 'High Impact Player' rule in was approved in December, which allows clubs to spend up to $1m over the cap on players that meet certain criteria.

"Trinity is a generational player, but more importantly she represents the future of this club and the future of women's soccer," said Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang.
