Former D.C. United and Atlanta United midfielder Mateusz Klich has sensationally claimed that it is Lionel Messi's dad, Jorge Messi, who really wields the power at Inter Miami.

From an individual standpoint, the Argentina legend has been sensational at Inter Miami since his move from Paris Saint-Germain and was named as Major League Soccer's Most Valuable Player in 2024.

With Messi at the club, Miami have also won the Supporters' Shield and the Leagues Cup, though he has received some criticism for his huge influence within the organisation.

Indeed, he has been helped to settle in the United States by the acquisitions of team-mates and friends Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul

Klich, who also played for the likes of Leeds United and FC Twente in his career, was recently asked on the 'Foot Truck' channel on YouTube which MLS club he would recommend to any of his Polish compatriots looking to make the move to the United States.

He started by advising against moving to Miami - because of Messi.

"I advise against Miami while Messi is there," he said as reported by Sport.pl.

"This is a drama club, people are running away from there, coaches and physiotherapists. From an organisational point of view, it is bad there. Messi's dad actually rules the club. Everyone speaks Spanish and nothing can be done without their consent. The club itself is also actually 45-50 minutes from Miami."

Klich then provided alternatives.

"I would recommend New York," the Cracovia player continued.

"Red Bull now has a better stadium, but City is also building stadium. There are clubs like Columbus Crew or Cincinnati, which have great stadiums, a great base, but a very boring place to live. I would recommend Nashville if you have the option to Nashville SC. Beautiful place, country capital."
