Man Utd miss out on Antony windfall

Real Betis have rejected an offer worth north of €50 million for winger Antony, according to ABC.

The bid came from an unnamed non-Premier League club with "significant financial resources." However, Betis rebuffed the approach out of hand for numerous reasons, including the deal they agreed with Man Utd last summer.

After months of negotiations, the Seville club signed Antony for €22m, but they had to make the major concession of giving Man Utd a 50% sell-on clause on the profit generated from the winger's next sale. Betis would only make a net profit of around €14m from a €50m transfer, which is deemed insufficient by club chiefs.

Man Utd sent clear Seys message

Club Brugge have made it clear that Joaquin Seys will not be sold this summer, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.

The Belgium international is a key left-back target for Man Utd and is regarded as one of the club's preferred alternatives to Newcastle star Lewis Hall. However, Brugge have no intention of selling this late in the window.

In fact, even if Man Utd were to match or exceed the club-record €40m Arsenal paid for Christos Tzolis, the Belgian giants would still not cash in on Seys. The left-back has been told that he must stay this summer.

Newcastle explore Gonzalez move

Newcastle have opened talks with Man City for midfielder Nico Gonzalez, The Athletic understands.

Gonzalez has struggled for consistent game time at Man City since joining in January 2025 and has been flagged as a player who could still depart the Etihad club - despite the sales of Rodri to Barcelona and Tijjani Reijnders to Al-Qadsiah.

Discussions with Newcastle are believed to be at an early stage, but a potential sale of Gonzalez could aid City in their ongoing pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Barcelona deadline

Julian Alvarez

Barcelona will stop chasing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez if they can't reach an agreement to sign him this week, Mundo Deportivo writes.

The Catalans have not given up on signing the Argentina international yet, emboldened by his desire to make the move. However, Atletico have not budged from their not-for-sale stance. Diego Simeone reiterated on Tuesday that the decision is final: Alvarez will not leave.

Barcelona will "pull out all the stops" to get Atleti to sell this week, but if no deal is struck by the end of Friday at the latest, they will begin pursuing their alternative targets as their new LaLiga campaign starts on Sunday.

Liverpool interested in Nwaneri

Liverpool "appreciate" Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri, as per Anfield Sector.

The 19-year-old is expected to leave the Gunners before the window shuts after being omitted from the club's Community Shield clash with Man City on Sunday. Mikel Arteta admitted last week that Nwaneri would have to leave if he couldn't guarantee him minutes.

He has been strongly linked with AC Milan, but Liverpool are now also in the mix, although it is unclear whether they are willing to formalise their interest. FootballTransfers understands that a permanent deal for Nwaneri could cost as much as €60m.
