Transfer Rumours: Elliot Anderson breakthrough imminent as Man Utd make €100m decision
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 9 June, including the latest updates on Elliot Anderson, Pio Esposito and Mohamed Salah.
Man City close in on Anderson
Man City are "close" to a breakthrough in negotiations with Nottingham Forest over Elliot Anderson, TEAMtalk claims.
Fresh discussions between the two clubs took place on Monday afternoon, with City pushing to complete the signing of the England star. Forest are holding firm on their valuation north of €115 million, but all parties are "aligned" in their thinking that a transfer looks inevitable.
Man Utd still "dream" of signing Anderson, as per Fabrizio Romano, but they have resigned themselves to the fact that he will only become a credible option for them should a move to City collapse. The Etihad club are the clear favourites for his signature.
Man Utd interested in Pio Esposito
The same outlet also asserts that Man Utd had scouts in attendance at Italy's game against Greece on Sunday to watch Inter striker Pio Esposito.
The Red Devils have taken a liking to the 20-year-old and are one of numerous clubs closely following the Italian. Man Utd have decided that they may be forced to sign a forward this summer to replace Joshua Zirkzee, who must leave the club for the good of his career.
Esposito is well-liked, but Inter are determined to keep him. Earlier this year, when he was linked with Arsenal, it was reported that the Nerazzurri would only entertain a sale if offered a fee in excess of €100m.
Salah agreement?
Mohamed Salah has an agreement in place to move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, a report in the Marib Press states.
The departing Liverpool legend is a long-standing target for the Pro League, with Al-Ittihad previously offering north of €100m to sign him. That bid was turned down by the Reds at the time, but Salah can now join Saudi clubs on a free transfer.
Salah is open to moving to the Kingdom, and he has received an offer, but one that falls short of the financial conditions previously presented to him. The Egyptian has made it clear that he wants a financial package that reflects his status as a global superstar and that he wants to join a competitive club.
Liverpool eye left-footed defender
Liverpool are planning to sign a left-footed defender this summer, as per CaughtOffside.
The Reds are looking to sign a replacement for Ibrahima Konate and finally want to add a left-footed, young centre-back. They have been scouring the market for a suitable option since 2023.
Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio is one name being considered by the Anfield club, while Tottenham starlet Luka Vuskovic is also admired. A shortlist of potential targets has been assembled, but there does not yet appear to be a standout candidate.
Real Madrid express Fernandez interest
Real Madrid have expressed their "genuine interest" in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, the Daily Mail writes.
The Argentine is looking to leave the Blues and has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid. However, it is currently unknown whether the Spanish giants will make a move for him due to Chelsea's asking price of around €140m.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid have made it clear that they admire Fernandez and would jump at the chance to sign him for an affordable price. A potential move may depend on outgoings or the pursuits of other targets failing.
