Inter Miami agree deal to sign Man Utd superstar

Inter Miami have reached a full agreement to sign Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, Fabrizio Romano has announced.

The Brazil international, who started in the Selecao's 3-0 World Cup win over Haiti on Friday, will leave Man Utd as a free agent when his contract officially expires on 30 June.

Despite calls for Casemiro to be handed a new deal after his impressive performances for Man Utd towards the end of the 2025/26 season, it was decided that the best course of action is a parting of ways.

Man Utd will free up significant funds after the departure of their best-paid player, while Casemiro has been able to freely choose his next - and potentially last - club. The 34-year-old's decision has seemingly been an easy one.

For several weeks, it has been known that the former Real Madrid star has his heart set on a move to Inter Miami because he wants to play alongside his former El Clasico rival Lionel Messi.

Casemiro to Miami done

Now, Fabrizio Romano has announced that almost all of the formal steps for this transfer have been completed. The only thing missing is Casemiro's signature on his contract. A full verbal agreement is in place.

Casemiro will be Miami's new marquee midfielder following the retirement of Sergio Busquets after the 2025 season. Rodrigo de Paul was supposed to be the Spaniard's successor, but despite improved performances for Miami and Argentina in recent weeks, he has been unable to fill the former Barcelona man's sizeable shoes.

However, despite Romano delivering his famous "here we go" on Casemiro's transfer to Miami, there are still questions that need to be answered before the Brazilian can actually play for the Herons.

The exact structure of his contract remains unclear, but this is an important matter due to Major League Soccer's stringent roster rules. Unless Miami sell one of their current Designated Players, Casemiro will have to play on a massively reduced salary for the foreseeable future.

David Beckham's franchise have also not yet announced any trades that would suggest that they are preparing for the arrival of Casemiro. They need to acquire the player's rights from the LA Galaxy before they can formally complete his signing.

They may have to offer the Galaxy a draft pick or even a player in return for Casemiro's rights because they don't have any General Allocation Money or international spots that they can trade.

There is still plenty of roster gymnastics that needs to be done before Casemiro can actually play for Miami.
