Man Utd earn huge windfall as Amorim edges closer to Milan

Manchester United are set to save more than €10.4m (£9m) in compensation payments to Ruben Amorim as the Portuguese edges closer to becoming AC Milan head coach, according to Romano.

The Red Devils revealed in February that the decision to sack Amorim in January could end up costing them a staggering €18.4million (£15.9m) in compensation, with that figure also including the departures of coaching staff members Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Jorge Vital.

“Man United will save more than nine million pounds for Ruben Amorim,” Romano said in a new YouTube video. “This was money destined to the Portuguese manager but now he’s going to AC Milan and so [that’s] extra money for Man United, very good news for Man United.”

He added: “Ruben Amorim is the new head coach of AC Milan. [The] deal [is] closed, done, on a two-year contract until 2028 [with the] option for a further season [until] 2029. And so Ruben Amorim returns [to management].”

Arsenal lose Brown race as Germany star nears Bayern move

Arsenal are set to miss out on signing Nathaniel Brown as Bayern Munich are close to completing a €55m (£47.5m) deal for the Eintracht Frankfurt defender, according to Romano.

The Athletic had previously revealed the Gunners were interested in signing the 22-year-old, who recorded a goal and an assist in Germany’s thumping 7-1 win over Curacao at the World Cup on Saturday.

After revealing Bayern are also close to signing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven, Romano said: “Bayern are not done at all because [they] will invest the exact same fee, [an] extra 55 million euros on another player - Nathaniel Brown.

“Now the deal [for Brown] is also expected to be completed with Eintracht Frankfurt. Again, 55 million euros, Nathaniel Brown already has an agreement with Bayern so the expectation is to close the final details soon. Saibari done, Brown expected soon, [I] imagine this will be 110 million euros spent on two players by Bayern - Saibari and Nathaniel Brown.”

Liverpool return not on the cards for Nunez despite reports

Darwin Nunez is not on the verge of completing a surprise return to Liverpool despite recent reports in Uruguay, according to Romano.

Reports emerged on Monday claiming Nunez, who left Liverpool to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in 2025, could be on his way back to Anfield this summer, though Romano has poured cold water on the speculation.

“Many, many of you asking me [is it] true this news coming from South America in the last few days, and also in recent hours, about Darwin Nunez returning to Liverpool,” Romano continued.

“Guys, with maximum respect for all sources close to the Uruguayan national team, close to Darwin Nunez, close to the club (Liverpool), my information is that those close to Darwin and sources close to Darwin’s camp deny this information [about him returning to Liverpool].

“Those close to Darwin Nunez say this is not true, there is nothing ongoing between Darwin Nunez and Liverpool. This is the information coming from those close to the Uruguayan striker. Should anything change I will let you know.

“Then if you ask me do you believe there will be movement around Darwin Nunez this summer, is he going to stay at Al-Hilal, I’m going to tell you that the expectation is for Darwin to go.”

Gvardiol to stay at Man City amid Real Madrid links

Josko Gvardiol is set to commit his future to Manchester City by signing a new contract until 2031, according to Romano.

The Croatia international has been loosely linked with La Liga giants Real this summer but Romano understands the defender is now poised to ink fresh terms with managerless City.

Romano said: “Good luck to Josko Gvardiol who is not going to be a Real Madrid player and has decided now, officially, to sign a new contract at Manchester City; it’s done, completed.

“So Josko Gvardiol [is] putting pen to paper [until] 2031 in this case, [a] five-year contract, Josko Gvardiol will get a pay rise. I told you in the last few days Gvardiol was going to sign a new contract at Manchester City, [there was] confidence, optimism, and so Real Madrid close [a deal for] Marc Cucurella and Gvardiol [is] not going to Real Madrid [as a result].”
