Transfer Rumours: Arsenal and Liverpool have 'enormous' interest in Barcola as PSG open door to deal
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours from 8 May, including the latest updates on Bradley Barcola, Anthony Gordon and Castello Lukeba.
Exclusive: Man Utd lead race to sign RB Leipzig's Castello Lukeba
The Red Devils are expected to be fairly active in the market this summer and we understand that Lukeba has been earmarked as the club’s primary defensive target as they look to bolster the first-team squad at Old Trafford.
Sources have informed us that Man Utd have already initiated talks with Lukeba’s representatives and they are eager to beat a number of other top clubs to his signature amid historical interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
Lukeba’s current contract at Leipzig, which runs until 2029, is believed to include an €80 million release clause, but there is an expectation that he will be allowed to depart the Bundesliga outfit for a slightly lower fee this summer.
Arsenal interested in Enzo Fernandez
Arsenal are reportedly interested in rivalling Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid for the signing of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez this summer.
The Argentina international hinted that he would like to move to Madrid during the recent March international break and rumours of an exit have persisted ever since, with Man City emerging as new contenders for his signature following confirmation that Bernardo Silva will leave the club this summer.
PSG remain interested too, while TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are also monitoring his situation at Stamford Bridge amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder ahead of next season.
FootballTransfers understands that Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali is currently Mikel Arteta’s preferred midfield signing this summer, although it’s reported that Fernandez has also been earmarked as a potential option.
Arsenal and Liverpool ‘keen’ on Barcola
Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona have ‘enormous’ interest in a summer transfer for Bradley Barcola, according to Sky Sport Germany.
Barcola’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire in 2028 and there are ‘increasing signs’ that sale will be ‘possible’ this summer.
No concrete offers have been made as of yet but talks have begun and are in their early stage with Barcola’s representatives.
Arsenal are said to be ‘particularly keen’ on the winger although much will depend on whether an offer is made that is high enough to test PSG’s resolve over the 23-year-old.
Bayern Munich make Gordon contact with Newcastle
Bayern Munich have opened contact with Newcastle over a summer move for Anthony Gordon, although the two sides are some way apart in valuations for the winger.
Newcastle are open to Gordon’s departure this summer with the 25-year-old said to be considering his options but the Magpies will demand a fee of around £80m (€92.5m).
According to the Daily Mail, the disparity in valuation is around £20m (€23m), with Newcastle aware that 15% of any sale will go to Gordon’s former club Everton.
Personal terms are not expected to be a problem for Bayern, while Newcastle are hoping interest from Arsenal and Barcelona will help secure a big money sale before the 2026 World Cup.
