Man Utd Transfer News Today: Cunha ‘agreement reached’ as €90m bid changes Rashford’s future
All the latest transfer news and rumours from Manchester United as the Red Devils get ready for a vital summer.
Carrick hot favourite to become permanent manager
Man Utd are ready to give Michael Carrick the role as manager on a permanent basis, with several key insiders increasingly seeing the Englishman as the favourite for the job.
“Manchester United internally believe that Michael Carrick is the clear favourite to keep the job and to be the Manchester United manager next season,” Romano revealed on YouTube.
“Soon it will be time to make a decision, but Carrick is the clear favourite to stay as Manchester United boss, despite all the other reports. Let’s wait for United to communicate what they want to do.”
With the board’s mind apparently made up and the man himself clearly open to taking the post on a permanent basis, it appears it’s just a matter of time before it is made official.
Cunha to be rested for the rest of the season?
Have Man Utd seen the last of Matheus Cunha… for this season at least? According to a report in ESPN Brasil, the Red Devils have agreed that the attacker will be rested for the final three Premier League matches of the season, so he is in peak physical condition for the World Cup.
United’s season is effectively over in a competitive manner. Carrick has steered the team into the Champions League spots, and there is little prospect of them budging from third place in the Premier League.
Cunha’s schedule, meanwhile, has been exceptionally light this season. He has played only 33 games across all competitions for Man Utd, plus six more for Brazil.
Raphinha bid transforms Rashford’s future
Marcus Rashford’s future has taken a shock twist with the news that the Saudi Pro League is ready to launch a €90 million move for Raphinha.
Barcelona are currently unwilling to pay the €30m required to secure the future of the Manchester United star, who has spent the last season on loan at the club. But they could be forced into a dramatic rethink with the news that the Saudi Pro League is ready to launch a substantial offer for Brazil international Raphinha.
Rashford would be a natural replacement for the former Leeds man, and even if the Catalans were to sign another player ahead of him, the Englishman’s €30m fee would suddenly look a whole lot more attractive.
Truffert links re-emerge
Manchester United’s desire to sign a left-back has seen them go back in for Bournemouth’s Adrien Truffert, according to TeamTalk.
The Red Devils are thought to be “hugely pleased” with the form of Luke Shaw, but the Old Trafford side believe that the return of Champions League football next season will require more depth in that area.
United’s hunt is thought to be ‘wide-ranging’ and David Raum of RB Leipzig and Myles Lewis-Skelly of Arsenal are both quoted as options.
