Manchester United have reportedly submitted an opening bid for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande amid their pursuit of a new left winger this summer.

Diomande, 19, has been a revelation since arriving at Leipzig from Leganes last year and his immense form for the Bundesliga giants has attracted the attention of scouts from across European football in recent months.

Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all been tipped to pursue a deal for the Ivory Coast winger during the upcoming summer transfer window, while Liverpool view him as the perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah, who will leave Anfield following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

Manchester United are also interested in signing Diomande and they have earmarked him as one of their top targets for this summer as they look to further bolster the attacking options available at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick, who has moved away from Ruben Amorim’s favoured 3-4-3 system since his arrival as interim boss, remains the most likely candidate to be appointed on a permanent basis this summer and the Red Devils are expected to sign a new left winger as a result.

Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha have both been deployed on the left flank since Carrick’s return to Old Trafford, but the 13-time Premier League champions are set to purchase a more specialist option this summer.

Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon has been identified as a potential option, although Diomande is understood to be the club’s primary target. In fact, according to transfer reporter IndyKaila, Man Utd have already submitted an opening bid for the winger, who is valued at over €100 million by Leipzig.

Diomande has scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 30 games across all competitions so far this season, and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Leipzig are keen to finalise a contract extension with the Ivorian in a bid to ward off suitors.

“The understanding is that Leipzig have proposed to Diomande to stay at least for one more season, sign a new contract at the club, improve the salary, as Diomande is now on a very low salary compared to the level of the player,” the transfer expert told his YouTube channel.

“He's probably an €80m, €90m, €100m player, but with the salary compared to these numbers - it's really different. And so, sign a new deal, stay one more season, eventually play Champions League football at Leipzig if they qualify, and then leave in summer, maybe 2027 or 2028, with the potential inclusion of a release clause.

“Leipzig could be open to including a release clause in the contract of Diomande if he stays for at least one more season. This is the conversation ongoing. Now, let's see which way they decide to take, club and player.”
