Gary Neville takes over Mark Goldbridge's controversial YouTube channel for major new partnership
Gary Nevill's The Overlap media company has taken over The United Stand, the controversial YouTube channel run and presented by Mark Goldbridge.
The channel has grown and grown in popularity over the last 10 years and has become famed for Goldbridge's furious rants.
According to the Daily Mail, the Overlap has purchased The United Stand, as well as Goldbridge's other channel That's Football, for a seven-figure sum.
Both of those channels have a combined 3.7 million subscribers on YouTube.
In addition to those channels, two new shows will be created - 'Stick to United', which will feature ex-players and journalists and 'The Daily United', which will focus on daily Manchester United news.
Neville said of the takeover: "We are building what we believe will become one of the most exciting Independent football communities in the world – one that gives fans direct, personality-led content.
"The United Stand and That's Football are two of the best-known football channels on YouTube, and our intention is to develop them into the most compelling Manchester United and football news channels in the market."
Goldbridge, real name Brent Di Cesare, added: "I've spent the last 10 years building The United Stand for Manchester United fans and That's Football for all fans, and I'm prouder of that than anything I've ever done. This deal is about what comes next. The Overlap has the ambition, the credibility, and the resources to help me take what I do to the next level."
At the beginning of January, Global, one of the biggest commercial radio companies in Europe, bought a majority stake in The Overlap.
"The announcement will see the beginning of a partnership to build out a media network spanning multiple brands and channels across sports verticals, led by football," a statement read.
"The company will be co-chaired by Gary Neville and Global Group CEO Simon Pitts, with Scott Melvin as lead Executive Director.
"Global will use its platforms, relationships and unrivalled marketing power to support the growth of The Overlap, from hosting and distribution to data-driven insights and industry-leading ad sales, through Global’s digital advertising exchange (DAX).
On the new partnership with Goldbridge, Melvin said:
"The market for independent football content is growing rapidly and the opportunity to build a genuinely scaled network within it is one we have been working towards for some time.
"The Overlap exists to build the infrastructure, partnerships, and editorial range that allows the best channels to reach their full potential. Mark has built two of the biggest audiences in this space, and this deal accelerates everything we are building towards."
In 2025, Goldbridge announced that he had won the rights to stream 20 live Bundesliga matches, via the That's Football channel.
