Arsenal Transfer News Today: Agent confirms Gunners are in 'pole position' to sign €100m wonderkid
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Christian Kofane, Ederson and Castello Lukeba.
Arsenal in ‘pole position’ to sign Kofane
Speaking to Daily Arsenal, Depolo admitted: “Arsenal’s interest is genuine. The manager likes him very much. There is contact between me and Arsenal. But their focus right now is to win the league - from there everything will start moving.
“He is a €100 million player. With Kofane, Arsenal will have a top striker for the next 10 years.
“I have never had as many calls in my life as now regarding Kofane. Right now, he is the best U21 striker in Europe and the most complete one. He has speed, technique, defends very well and is strong in the air. It is very difficult to find all these attributes in one striker.
“I think it is too early to say, but due to the fact that the player speaks Spanish, like Mikel Arteta, and that William Saliba is originally from Cameroon, I would say Arsenal are in pole position.”
Arsenal told Lukeba price
The 23-year-old’s current contract with Ole Werner’s side isn’t due to expire until 2029, but they are willing to accept a sale as they look to maximise the potential fee they could earn via a blockbuster transfer.
That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who posted on X: “Castello Lukeba could leave RB Leipzig this summer after three years, with both sides open to a move. The club would accept around €65-70m, below his €80m release clause. 23 y/o Lukeba is keen on a new challenge, and his future now depends on incoming offers.”
Multiple reports have confirmed that Arsenal are interested in adding Lukeba to their first-team squad, with Mikel Arteta understood to be a huge admirer of the 23-year-old following his impressive stint at RB Leipzig.
Atletico fear Arsenal hijack for Ederson
Arsenal have also been touted as a potential competitor to Atletico Madrid for the signing of Ederson from Atalanta.
Ederson, who has also been a target for Manchester United and Newcastle, is thought to have agreed personal terms with Atletico already, although a fee has yet to be agreed with Atalanta.
Atleti do not want to pay more than €40m for the midfielder and MARCA report that the ‘ financial muscle’ of Premier League teams like Arsenal could hijack their move, giving the Spanish giants major reason to seal a deal early on.
Gunners eye triple raid on Frankfurt
Arsenal have been linked with a triple raid on Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt by signing three of their young stars this summer.
According to BILD, the first player on the agenda could be 16-year-old Kennet Eichhorn, who is emerging as a target for sides like the Gunners, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, creating ‘mega competition’ for the teenager’s signature.
Arsenal are also said to be interested in €65m-rated left-back Nathaniel Brown, who is expected to leave Frankfurt after interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, United and Manchester City among others.
And finally, the Gunners are said to be tracking winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya, with Frankfurt holding out for €40m, although their asking price could be lowered over the summer.
Real Madrid wonderkid wanted by Arsenal
Arsenal are still thought to be in the race for Real Madrid wonderkid Victor Valdepenas, according to AS in Spain.
The Gunners had considered targeting the 19-year-old in January but Real Madrid extended his contract and would like to keep hold of a youngster they consider ‘the chosen one’.
Milan are also said to be interested in the defender, whose release clause is now above €50m, and his future is thought to be ‘up in the air’, making a move possible this summer.
