Transfer Rumours: Man Utd want Morgan Rogers as Romano confirms agreement
The countdown to the 2026 summer transfer window is officially on and clubs across world football are already beginning to formulate their plans in the market.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 6 February, including the latest updates on Morgan Rogers and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Man Utd eye Morgan Rogers deal
Manchester United have reportedly identified Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers as a key transfer target for the upcoming 2026 summer window.
FootballTransfers understands that Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer has been identified as Man Utd’s dream replacement for Bruno Fernandes, however Liam Rosenior’s side reportedly have no intention of sanctioning a sale and they view the Englishman as one of their ‘untouchables.’
As a result, Man Utd will likely be forced to pursue an alternative and they have now identified Palmer’s close friend and international team-mate Rogers as a key priority, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to join Celtic
Celtic have reached a full agreement to sign former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Rumours of a Bosman move to Celtic have picked up in recent days and Martin O’Neill’s side have now agreed a deal to bring Oxlade-Chamberlain to Glasgow, as first reported by Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.
The imminent transfer has now been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Celtic, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for the midfielder. He’s in Glasgow today for new chapter on six month deal plus option to extend.”
Chelsea pursue Julian Alvarez
Chelsea are willing to “break the bank” to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, according to Spanish publication Sport (via Sport Witness).
The Argentina international has been a standout performer for Diego Simeone’s side since his arrival from Manchester City in 2024, and widespread reports have suggested that he could push to leave the club this summer.
Alvarez has scored 40 goals and provided 13 assists in 88 appearances for Atletico Madrid and his form has attracted the attention of numerous top European clubs, including Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal interested in Daniel Svensson
Arsenal are reportedly ready to rival Inter Milan and Leeds United for the signing of Borussia Dortmund left-back Daniel Svensson this summer.
Dortmund paid a measly fee of just €6.5 million to sign Svensson, however they have now placed a €30m asking price on his head as they prepare to receive official approaches for his signature this summer.
That is according to German publication Bild, who claim that Leeds have identified Svensson as a key transfer target for 2026, while Arsenal and Inter are also interested in landing the Sweden international.
Liverpool want Jules Kounde
Barcelona are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Jules Kounde this summer, with Liverpool eager to sign him amid their pursuit of a new right-back.
According to Fichajes, the Reds are among the clubs keeping close tabs on the situation of Kounde at Barcelona, with Hansi Flick’s side willing to sanction a sale if they receive an offer worth €65m.
Chelsea and Manchester United are also understood to be monitoring a potential swoop for Kounde, although the former are highly unlikely to pursue a deal given their current transfer strategy.
